Department of Microbiology
The primary objective of the Department of Microbiology is to provide for routine diagnostics of bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, parasitology and serology. The clinical microbiology section in the central lab services caters to Santosh Medical hospitals, and also samples for surveillance from neighbouring hospitals along with routine culture samples.
The Department’s faculty members have many publications in national and international journals and department encourages MD and PhD students to participate and present papers in conferences. Registered doctoral students receive extensive training in research by well qualified and experienced faculty members. Department’s labs are well equipped with necessary equipment for research.

|Eligibility : M.B.B.S.||Eligibility : Recognised B.Sc. (MLT)/B.Sc. Degree Examination with Physic, Chemistry, Botany or Zoology as the main subject or B.Sc. Degree in Home Science with 50% aggregate marks in the above graduation fields.||Eligibility : a) Candidates who possess a degree in Master of Science/ Behavioural Science in a subject allied to Bio-Medical Sciences or Master of Surgery or Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree or Diplomat of the National Board of Examinations will be eligible for the Ph.D. course.
b) Candidates who possess a degree of Medical Microbiology will be eligible for Ph.D. courses.
